Paris Airport
June 14, 2007
This is Herb Lusk and I’m actually in Paris on my way to South Africa and also on my way to Tanzania and Malawi, and of course Mozambique as well. It was interesting that at the airport we met a fine gentleman who actually lives in Boston, he is from Africa from the Tanzania area and we are discussing some of the things happening in his village, his name is Ben Mupwanbo.

Today I met Clara Makhomwa, manager coordinating HIV department of Social Development, Limpopo province, South Africa. This Mahebe care group is a project which is run by some volunteers, it is a home based care Non Profit Organization that we are assisting.
Mostly they target orphans and vulnerable children, and as they deliver their services they often find there is a need to care for people infected by HIV/AIDS. This is due to poverty. The patients also need this food or whatever meals we are giving to the children. But due to the shortage of budget we can only afford to focus on the children.

Pastor Carlos visits HIV / AIDS patient
I spent the day with Father Carlos at the clinic he runs on the outskirts of town. His beds are filled with more than 200 sick and dying people as more line the walls of the building waiting for room in the ward. Through donations raised through Stand for Afria, we have been able to supply the clinic with $21,000 worth of much needed medicine and pay the yearly salary of 5 nurses and two doctors.
